Convenient Kona location to handle your autos -  Your vehicle is loaded into a shipping container and it is on its way to the west coast or all the way to your final destination.

As agents for Horizon Lines www.Horizonlines.com our Hilo & Kona termninals are able to assist you with the shipping of your vehicle to the West Coast (Oakland, Tacoma, Long Beach) and Alaska.

Contact Horizon Lines #1-808-930-4708 to make a booking.  Once your booking is made you will have a scheduled date to drop off your vehicle.  Horizon Lines will provide you a list of documents that you will be required to bring in at the time of shipping.

Please use this as a checklist to prepare your vehicle for shipment:

_______ Original Vehicle Registration – Horizon Lines will make copies and return the original documents to you immediately.

_______ Original Title Horizon Lines will make copies and return the original documents to you immediately.  If there are no liens on the vehicle, please present the original Title.   *If not, please see ‘Creditor/ Lessor statement’ below.

_______ Creditor/Lessor statement – If your vehicle is currently financed/leased, a statement from your creditor/lessor on their letterhead with the VIN# noted authorizing that the vehicle can be shipped from Hawaii is required. The letter is good for 30 days from when it was issued if an expiration date isn’t noted.  *The financial institution noted on your registration must be the one to issue this statement.  

_______ Photo ID – You or your agent must present a valid picture ID upon drop off.

_______ Co-Ownership – If the vehicle has multiple owners listed on the registration/title then all owners must be present when the vehicle is delivered for shipment.  If an owner(s) cannot be present, then a notarized letter is required from the absent owner(s) authorizing the vehicle shipment. Please note the name of your agent (party dropping off) and VIN # of the vehicle.  The letter is good for 30 days from when it was issued if an expiration date isn’t noted.

_______ Keys – You must provide Horizon Lines with keys to the ignition, trunk, gas cap and any locked compartment. Please have copies of your keys made and leave only the copies (keep your original set of keys) after you have checked to ensure that the copies fit all devices/compartments.

_______ Delayed Shipments – Please understand that all vehicles are subject to delayed shipment and could be assigned to a ship leaving later than the requested sailing date due to unforeseen weather or operation issues.

_______ Don’t Fill Your Tank – Due to coast guard regulations, we require that your gas tank be less than a ¼ tank.  If your vehicle is more than this requirement, we will not accept your vehicle.

_______ Don’t Pack Anything in Your VehicleNo personal items , NO luggage or boxes may be shipped inside the passenger area or trunk. An infant car seat and spare tire with jack are considered to be integral parts of the vehicle, so they may be included. You will be asked to remove anything that is not permanently mounted or bolted to the vehicle.

_______ Don’t Pack Firearms or Fire Extinguishers
No firearms, ammunition of any type or fire extinguishers may be shipped in a vehicle.

_______ Alarm Systems
If there is an alarm system, it must be disconnected prior to drop off or the alarm remote must be provided.

_______ No Disabled Vehicles
Your vehicle must be in safe operating condition with inflated tires, fully operational brakes, transmission and steering. All vehicles will be inspected upon delivery to Horizon Lines. If a vehicle is not in safe operating condition, it will not be accepted for shipment.

_______ Required dimensions
The vehicle cannot exceed 21′ length, 7′ height, 7′ width. All vehicles must have at least 6” of ground clearance otherwise we will not accept your vehicle.

_______ Vehicle must be clean inside and out
To ensure an accurate vehicle inspection report can be completed, please clean your vehicle inside and out.  If you’re shipping to Tacoma, Washington please take extra precaution to ensure that your vehicle is clean beneath the fender wells of any “caked on” dirt.  Agricultural rules forWashington are strict about the transportation of foreign soil or dirt into theWashington environment.
